Bro. Robert L. Breeding
Bro. Breeding was born in Eastern
Tennessee during the years of the depression. In the mid-1950's while he
was serving as a young Air Force Officer he found himself impressed with
certain older officers and non-commissioned officers. He wanted to learn
more about their philosophies of life and the associations they had with
each other. He really found himself wanting to be like them. He learned
what had guided these men and ended up becoming a candidate for the
Masonic fraternity. He was raised in Douglas Lodge #180 in Mascoutah, IL
and became a member of Evening Star Lodge #180, in Tazewell
Tennessee. He became a Scottish Rite member in 1966 and a Shriner in
Knoxville Tennessee during 1985.
He served in the Army and Air Force from 1943 to 1969, seeing action in Europe during WWII, and in the overall sense serving also in Korea and Viet Nam. He felt he was fortunate to be able to continue his chosen profession of teaching, educational administration and research. In 1957 he was awarded The Freedom Foundation for his efforts. During his military service he earned two masters degrees and upon retiring at the grade of Lieutenant Colonel joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and also earned hid Doctor of Education Degree.
